Roger (Rick) Ernest Olson 113 High Meadows Drive Florence,CO 81226-9453 (719) 784-6878 | Our family has only been attempting to research our history for ashort while, yet with each new discovery, we become more and more commited to finding out all we can about out ancestors. We are now searching for the family names of the following: Angle - PA, 1700-1900's; Brauer - WI, 1700-1900's; Vanderhoef - WI, 1700-1900's; Jennings - OH, WI, England, 1700-1900's; Olson - WI, Norway (Also spelling Olsen) 1700-1900's; and Thronson, WI, Norway (Also spelling Tronson) 1700-1900's. Our history shows that two Jennings brothers left from England on a sailing ship in the early 1800's and were shipwrecked off the eastern coast of the US. Both were rescued, but by different ships and one brother was taken to New York and the other to a southern port. The Jennings brother that arrived in New York, married and had children. He or one of his descendants found their way to Wisconsin, via Ohio, where some members stayed. In Wisconsin they established themselves in Rio, Wisconsin, where to this day there are some rivers and roads named after them. One of my family had stated that they were told by their parents that the brothers or the brother that went to the southern port raised race horses. The brother that eventually migrated to Wisconsin took up farming around Rio and Springvale, Columbia County, WI. The Olson side has been shown to be a bit more difficult to trace as the names keep changing from generation to generation as sons took their fathers names and daughters were renamed after their fathers (i.e. Nielsdotter, Etc.) Still we are plodding away. The Angle side is bay far the least know of all the family as there was hardly any information passed down from family to family and about all of it we have is from only one member, who is now reaching her 100th birthday. Help would be appreciated by any and what information we have now is available to anyone that is interested. |
