EthelGadfield was born Feb.23, 1901 in a house that stood on the northeast corner of North Main and Taylor Street in Wellington Ohio. The Eagles Hall now sits on this site.She attended Wellington High School and left in the eleventh grade in 1917 to get married.
Ethel was a housewife, which meant raising 4 sons and later two foster daughters.
She was active in the Church of Christ, inthe American Legion Auxiliary and in the Women's Relief Corps, a remnant of a Civil War ladies auxiliary. Also in the American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries, The Rebecca Lodge and the Dorcas Society as well as the Golden Age Club and the Democratic Club.
In 1973 she was chosen as the historian of the Democratic Women's Club.
