I began researching the Martin Family around 1997 but other priorities have slowed my progress. However, the book included on this home page is a culmination of research from the National Archives in Washington, D.C., the Internet, numerous correspondence, and a visit to Barton, Ohio with two first cousins, my Mother, and my Aunt. While in Barton, Ohio, we visited the Library, Lynwood Cemetary, and the County Court in St. Clairsville, Ohio. We completed our trip by visiting my mother's and aunt's first cousins who graciously welcomed us and provided lodgings and a wonderful family dinner where we met many more of our ancestors.
I intend to update this web site often. I am an amateur, but hope to improve the site with your help and suggestions. Those who have suggestions, corrections, or additions, please e-mail me so I can update our family history. I still have biographical information for Joseph Martin and Lottie Hendershot I have not yet included, but will try to add to it on a regular basis. I will also include pictures I have collected in the last several years. I still have to scan them into the scrapbook. Currently, I have a picture of Joseph and Lottie Martin and twins, David and Dan Surratt, at about six months old.
