George "Patrick" O'Neal

This is the research of the O'Neal family, primarily from Johnstown, Bates County Missouri. The earliest O'Neal we (my cousins and I) have been able to locate is Oliver G. O'Neal, born in an unknown area of North Carolina on 8-8-1798 and died 11-19-1884 and buried in Bates County Missouri at the Johnstown Cemetery. Oliver had two marriages; first to Elizabeth Taylor (born: 4-7-1802) on 2-14-1821 in Wilson County TN. Elizabeth died shortly after the birth of their third child. Oliver married again, to Nancy Clark (born:9-7-1804, TN) on 4-3-1828, also in Wilson County TN. They migrated to Morgan, Miller and Bates counties Missouri. Oliver G. O'Neal and Nancy (Clark) O'Neal had eleven children, including several boys who fought and died while serving in the Confederate Army,during the Battle Between the States. Nancy (Clark) O'Neal died in Bates County
MO on 5-5-1872.
