This will be the Home Page of the Ono family that began in America with the immigration of Kinsuke Ono. He arrived in the USA in 1900 from Soja-shi, Okayama-ken, Japan. He settled in Sebastopol, California. He married Kotora Okazaki as a "picture bride" and raised four sons: Masami, Kanemi,Tadashi, and Yonemi. Masami (Sam) as the oldest son was taken back to Japan to live with Uncle Manjiro Ono in Soja-shi, Okayama-ken and went to school for six-years. I was able to visit Japan and discover the Hideo Ono, granson of Manjiro, and his family still living at the Soja-chi address that I found on a microfilm file in the National Archives in Washington, DC. The ship transport record showed that Kinsuke and Kotora Ono and son, Kanemi were on a ship leaving Japan for the USA in 1920. I've taken the liberty of thinking that this was when Masami Ono was left behind to attend school. |
