Jacob Shaw McComb, depending on the information found was b orn in 1767 or 1774. In a biography of The Rev Thomas Bento n McComb, son of Jacob Shaw McComb, it has been written tha t Thomas's Father, Jacob Shaw McComb, was 98 years old whe n he died in Grayson County Texas in 1865. This would figur e his birth year as 1767.

The following information was taken from a family bible onc e owned by Jacob Shaw McComb. No one knowns who handcopie d this information or when it was copied. In the family bi ble that Jacob Shaw McComb owned at one time, he had writte n that he was born 01 April 1774. It also stated that he la nded in Charleston, South Carolina on 03 October 1798. He s tated that he came from 'Cove of Cork', Ireland at that th e passage took 6 weeks. This family bible supposedly came i nto the possession of the Noel-Wiley Family. The Noel-Wile y Family and Jacob Shaw McComb lived in the same areas of T ennessee, Knox and Roane Counties. There is no known link b etween these families and as of yet, it is unclear how thi s family came into possession of this bible. At this presen t time (10 January 2003) it is not known where the bible is.

There is another story: Jacob Shaw McComb. was a soldier o n an English Military ship. This ship landed in New York (t he year is unknown). Jacob Shaw McComb supposedly met his b rother William McComb, and left the ship. He supposedly joi ned his brother in Tennessee.

Neither story has no proof as of this date. (10 January 200 3) We are looking for any proof to either story.
