Currently searching for ancestors of my grandfather James Francis Hilliard, Sr (deceased) of Chattanooga, TN. Married Mary Kathrine Robbins. Children: Sim, James Francis Jr, Virgie, Ruth, Lorena, and Billie Jean (my mother).
Father of James Francis, Sr is Jacob A. (Jake) Hilliard b. abt. 1860, who died in Chattanooga, TN, Dec 1931 and is buried at Tyner Methodist Church.
Jacob was born in Polk, Co TN. His father (unknown) - his mother, Mary A. (maiden name unknown though believed to be CARDEN) remarried when he was less than 10 years old to William ALFORD - married in Meigs, Co TN, had 4 children with Mr. Alford.
I am searching for the father of my g-grandfather. He may have been a child of Jesse Hilliard who lived in Polk Co. TN and was an early settler in the area. Jesse Hilliard was still living in Polk Co, TN, in 1860 at the age of 73. I thus far have not been able to make a link for Jacob A. (Alford) Hilliard and the family of Jesse Hilliard.
