About 2 hours drive from Llandrinio/Llandysilio are the ruins of "Llys Euryn" which was built in the 13th century. This was a palace and the builder was Ednyfed Fychan. He was the ancestor of King Henry VII of the Tudor dynasty.
The name Fychan is pronounced something like Vukan, and this gradually changed over the years to Vaughan.
