Rev. Lawrence A. Stumme Services for Rev.' Lawrence A. Stumme, W, of 32 Alta Vista will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church with burial in St. Peter's Cemetery, Denver. Rev. Stumme died at his home Tuesday at 2:45 a.m. of an apparent heart attack. Friends may call at Kearns-Dykeman Chapel after 7 p.m. Wednesday. The family requests memorials in his name to the memorial fund of the Lutheran Home in Muscatine, the Waterloo Child Care Center or the Student Aid Fund at Wartburg Seminary in Dubuque. Rev: Stumme was born in Denver on Nov. 18, 1906, the son of John and Emma Blasberg Stumme. He married Esther K Engelstad Nov. 22, 1928, in Northfieid, Minn. Rev Stumme graduated from St. Olaf College in 1929 with a bachelor's degree and then attended Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, graduating in 1932 with a Bachelor of Divinity. He served as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Ottumwa from 1932 to )M1 and then as pastor of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Strawberry Point for four years. From 1945-1970 he was director of the Lutheran Home in Muscatine. He retired in Waterloo and has been visitation pastor at First Lutheran Church. He was active in many church and community oriented groups. Survivors are his wife; four sons, Rev. Wayne C of Minneapolis, Minn., Dr. Luther P. of Portland Ore, Rev. Lawrence A. Jr. of Columbus, Ohio, and John R. of Northfield, Minn.; four daughters, Mrs. Lois Woodhouse of Muscatine, Mrs. Kathryn Tutton of New Orleans La., Mrs. Carolyn Riswold of Citrus Heights, Calif., and Mrs. Naomi Orsay of St. Louis, Mo., a. brother, Dr. E.H. Stumme of Denver; and a sister, Mrs. Louis A. Sagert of Denver.
