Jonathan Thompson (son of Jonathan Thompson and Ann Vickers)^{1625, 1626} was born 16 Mar 1828 in Nenthead, Cumberland, England^{1627, 1628}, and died 02 Jun 1888 in Nenthead, Cumberland, England; Hillersdon Terrace¹⁶²⁹. He married (1) Elizabeth Teasdale on 22 Jan 1857 in Nenthead, Cumberland, England¹⁶³⁰. He married (2) Hannah Erwine on 07 Jun 1860 in Alston, Cumberland, England^{1631, 1632}, daughter of John Erwine and Ruth Bales.

Notes for Jonathan Thompson:
Hannah was 20 yrs old and Jonathan was 32 when they married. My Mother (Frances Thompson Pritiken) told me that her father said that she kept house for him and she and her father lived with him. Apparently he was a preacher and the church members did not think it was seemly for him to have a young unmarried girl living in his home. His reply was something like, "fine then I'll marry her" and he did. She was his second wife according to my Mother. [story from Paul Orsay, gr-grandson of Jonathan & Hannah]

There is a story that Jonathan and Hannah had another son who was disowned when he refused to become a methodist minister like all of his brothers and his father. (The census records in 1871 and 1881 dispute this story)
Just after WW I there was a series of letters to our local Newspaper which the writer called Reminiscences of Nenthead. In one of them he says "Jonathan Thompson was a remarkable man, strong in faith and powerful in prayer (his four sons afterwards became ministers in the American ministry)"
