Notes for Joan M. Noyes: Joan M. (Noyes) Balkas, 76, went peacefully to be with the Lord on Good Friday, March 25, 2005, at Wilson Hospital. She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Branconnier; and her grandson, Aric P. Noyes. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Alfonse Balkas, Johnson City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard P. Noyes, Endwell, and Thomas and Cynthia Noyes, Millbury, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Denise and Mark Stevens, Aurora, Colo., and Yvonne and Peter Kourliouros, Conklin; grandchildren, Kristan Tomaka, Vestal, Todd and Andrea Noyes, Vestal, Michael Cerra, U.S. Navy, John and Chelsea Stevens, Aurora, Colo., and Christopher and Daniel Kourliouros, Conklin; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Mac Connell, Ocala, Fla., and Phyllis and John Yanchewski, Hudson, Mass.; brother-in-law, John Branconnier; several nieces and nephews. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity. Joan was the proprietor of a local antique shop for many years; her love of antiques brought joy to many people. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 9:00 a.m. at the Bednarsky Funeral Home, Inc., 96 Glenwood Ave., Binghamton, and at 9:30 at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St., Binghamton, where a Funeral mass will be offered. Entombment will be in Riverhurst Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Church of the Holy Trinity, or to the American Red Cross, 620 E. Main St., Endicott, N.Y. 13760.
