I am a direct descendent of the Rev Joseph Rennard Orton (1795-1842), Wesleyan Missionary. Over a period of forty years I have gathered lots of information about his descendents in Australia, and have attempted to piece them together. Surnames include RUSSELL, DICKSON, JOPE and BRAGG. More recently, I have extended my interest to also include ancestors of my late mother (nee Muriel Jessie ATKINS) and my late wife (nee Shirley GOLDSMITH). My mother's ancestors include ATKINS, ELLIS, HOOKER, MORRIS, GILLMAN, DAY, EVANS and CLEMSON. My late wife's ancestors include GOLDSMITH, BLAKE, GASKIN, PHILLIPS, RAY, HOLDEN, DUNSTAN. The project called "First Families 2001" enabled me to make some significant contacts with some branches of the family. I also contributed a number of entries to that project.
