1. JOSHUA8 OSBORN (AMOS7, JOSEPH6, JOSEPH5, JEREMIAH4, THOMAS3, JEREMY2, THOMAS1) was born February 18, 1759 in Waterbury, New Haven, Connecticut, and died September 27, 1837 in Southington, Trumbull, Ohio. He married DIANA WARNER September 1781 in Salem, Ct, daughter of STEPHEN WARNER and PHEBE BALDWIN.

JOSHUA OSBORN settled northeast of the center about one mile. He reared 11
children, all of whom lived to have families. Shelden, Gilbert, Leonard,
Stephen, and Sterling were the sons, and Chloe, Amanda (Haughton), Anna
(Crowell), Phebe (Hillman), Dorcas, and Roxy, the daus. Shelden remained in
the East. Chloe (White) lived in the East, but afterwards came to OH. Dorcas
(May) and Roxy (Frisbie) are dead.

This soldier applied 8/24/1832, b 2//1759, from Southington Twp, Trumbull
Co., OH; enlisted at Waterbury, CT in the spring of 1776, served as private
for 8 mos. in Capt. John Lewis' Co., Col. Douglas' CT Reg.
In the spring of 1777 he enlisted at Waterbury for a term of 3 yrs + served
as a private in Capt. Theophilus Munson's Co., Cols. Chandler + Sherman, CT
Troops. In 1780 he served as private 8 mos. + again for 8 mos. in 1781. He
was in the battles of Long Island, Harlem Heights, + White Plains. He d.
9/28/1837 in Southington Twp, Trumble Co., OH.
Diana Osborn applies 1/17/1843 for widow's pension, from Southington Twp,
Trumbull Co., OH + declares that her late husband was a Rev. War pensioner,
etc. She m. him at Salem, CT 9/1781; maiden name was Diana Warner; lived at
said Salem about 14 yrs + then moved to Colebrook, Litchfield Co., CT where
the remained until 1809 + then moved to Trumbull Co., OH.

OSBORNE, JOSHUA (Trumbull Co.) Pvt. Served first in Capt Theopolis Munson's
Co. of New Haven, attached to 8th Regt. Participated in battles Germantown
and Monmouth, in winter 1778-79. Regt under command Col John Chandler.
Granted pension under Act of Congress 1818. Br Feb 18, 1759, Waterbury, Conn.
Parents: Amos Osborn and Elizabeth Hotchkiss. Married Diana Warner, 1781. Children:
Reuben, Chloe, Sheldon, Gilbert, Leonard, Stephen, Sterling, Dorcas, Rosanna,
Amanda, Anna, Phebe. D Sept 27, 1837, Southington, O. Bur Center Cem,
Southington, about center of cem. (MI: Name of Joshua Osborn on his wifes marker. date of their births and deaths). GM by his estate. Drew pension under act of legislature of 1812. He wintered in Valley Forge 1777-1778 and quartered in Conn village on the Hudson in 1778-1779. Regt under command of Col John Chandler.

born in Waterbury, Conn.; died in Southington, Ohio.
Ephraim White (1754-1842) was placed on the Connecticut pension roll, 1818, for service as
private and corporal, Connecticut and Massachusetts service. He was born in Mansfield, Mass.;
died in Colebrook, Conn.

GILBERT OSBORN, a son of Joshua Osborn, was born in Colebrook, CT 1/19/1794,
and came to Southington with his parents in 1808. He was a soldier of the War
of 1812. He married Lois Haughton and reared a family of 3 daus. and 1 son.
Porter G. and Mrs. John Schrontz are the only survivors. Gilbert Osborn died
12/8/1869. His wife died in 1871.
