The first Family Reunion that I can ever remember the Michigan Rietkerk's ever having was here at my home, June 26, 1998. We had a very small turn out, but we were excited to see even the few who did come. In June of 1999, we held another Family reunion and were blessed with another 5 couples joining us. Progress in small steps, but progress..... That same year,Stanley Albert Plunkett, the son of Maryann Rietkerk was coming to Michigan to plant his mothers ashes on the family grave site in Alamo Michigan, and we held another Family Reunion and lordy, you should have see the people he drew out of the woods.... With over 50 family members here, I tried to get as many photo's as possible, but just could not be everywhere at one time. So missed quite a few.... (Or, if the truth be known, they all made it into bathing suits and into the pool, before I could assemble everyone for a photo and those I do have look like everyone is a member of a nudist colony! This year, the Millennium year, we held our reunion in the rain, and still had a wonderful time. And, still another 4 couples joined us for the first time. Stan and I researched this summer, together, and made some progress.... I do not know exactly how far I want to take this Family page, so I will end this until I have something more to put in for information... For the last 3 years, during the fall and winter months, I have held dessert evenings on Saturday nites... Just to help people get to meet some of the family in a smaller group. Photo of Leendert (Lane) Rietkerk at 80 years (86 KB) Leendert (Lane) Rietkerk at 80 years of age. Although I have his birth certificate, he always passed himself off as 3 or 4 years older than he actually was. Father of 9 children, Grandfather of 26 and we are still counting for G-Grandfather... Lane and Anna (7 KB) This photo was taken about 1911 in Alamo, Michigan. I lifted it from a larger photo, and the baby in the larger photo was my father. That is how I came to get the date of 1911. Anna is about 35 years old and Lane is about 40 years old.
