I am currently researching my maternal grandmother's family, Stirton, and my paternal grandfather's family, O'Shaughnessy. I have research on my maternal grandfather's family, Young, researched by my Aunt many years ago. My paternal grandmother's family, Roberts, will have to wait.

The Stirtons trace back to James who married Janet Crichton in Forfarshire, Scotland on 4 Feb 1816 (bans). My gg-grandfather David was born 13 June 1816 and emigrated with his family in 1825, first to South America and then to southern Ontario, Canada. David was an MP. His son James moved to Manitoba and was postmaster in Morden. I was born and raised in Winnipeg (two generations later) before moving back east to Ottawa, Ontario.

The O'Shaughnessys trace back to Michael who came from county Cork, Ireland to Grand Rapids, Michigan. His son William married Mary Anne Perrier and my grandfather Robert John was born 13 Nov 1888. Robert grew up in Belleville, Ontario and came to Manitoba at 19 where he married E. Kathleen Roberts.
