The Osmons/Osmans came to the U.S. when Thomas Osman came from Bedfordshire, England in 1635 and settled in Suffolk Co., Long Island, NY. The Osmons then went to Hunterdon Co., NJ, Hampshire Co., VA (now WV). Revolutionary War veteran Charles Osmon then moved to Adams Co., OH. His son, Jabez Osmon, moved to Daviess Co., IN. My gggrandfather, Jabez Charles David Osmon, and my ggrandfather Elijah Ellsworth Osmon, moved to Arkansas. Other Osmons continued west. Other surnames I am researching are Vaughn, Mefford, Hall, Brown, Burrows, Thompson, and Schroyer. |
