Lieut. Col. Philip Chearnley O'Sullivan, MPC, USA, (Ret.),

As I am sure everyone else has found, researching my own roots has been both challenging and very worthwhile. Through my research I have come to appreciate, and in a way to know my ancestors. It is as though they talk to me from the pages of my notes and from typing them into the family tree program. I see shadows of smiles and distant whisperings from those who have been gone so many years. Images in bits and pieces float in the corners of my consciousness. I know that I am not alone at the key board, library, archives, or cemeteries. They are all watching over my shoulder and this comforts me well.

There are still many pieces of the O'Sullivan (dorohy/dorihy) clan of Rusheens, Ballygriffin, Kenmare, Ireland, missing but I feel confident that they will be found when it is time. For example, I was recently back in Kennmare (I have renovated the old farm house in Rusheens)and a telephone repairman told me of a Micheal O'Sullivan(dorihy) from Chicago who was looking for his relatives at my house while I was absent in the States. When I returned I called the five Michael O'Sullivans listed in Chicago but did not locate that Michael. Michael remains one of the pieces of the puzzle still to be found. There are so many others as well.
