The main four lines I'm researching are BRUCE (MD/WVa), MADDOX (MD), OSWALD (PA, MD) and WYGANT (MD). I am interested in following maternal and paternal lines as far as I can. I am also including siblings when I can find them in the hopes that this will help as many as possible. The Oswald line is descended from Eleazer OSWALD (ca. 1755-1795). He was a printer in New York and Philadelphia, and fought in the American Revolution from CT. He died in New York of yellow fever, and his wife, Elizabeth HOLT (1756-1797) Oswald carried on his business. The first Bruces I can find "for sure" are Andrew and Normand BRUCE, in Maryland by 1761. Andrew BRUCE (?-1815) married Barbara MURDOCK and Normand BRUCE (1740-1811) married Susanna Gardiner KEY () in 1761. The Maddox line is descended from Samuell MADDOX (1638-1684/5), who came to Maryland in . http://www.tfs.net/%7egbyron/kin/maddox.html Finally, the Wygant line can be taken back to George (Jury) WYGANT (1703-1778) of the Palatine. The line includes FOWLERs and BARNEs of the Hudson River Valley of New York. I have family history, and am busy documenting what I have. If you find a mistake, or if you can add anything at all to what I have, please e-mail me. |
