* The Harringtons in Ireland*

Updated October 30, 2012

I am researching the history of the Harrington family, my wife's ancestors. I was inspired to do this by a letter written by my wife's aunt Anastasia Harrington in 1978 where she recorded everything she could remember about her parents and relations. It was a terrific piece of work and, apparently, all from memory.

In 1933, my wife's grandfather, James Harrington, began to search the available records for relations. He was motivated to do this by a newspaper advertisement "Heirs Sought for Katherine Harrington". Thus began a search for connections, a search that hinted at a secret, a rift in the family and records intentionally destroyed.

James Harrington never succeeded in proving a relationship to Katerhine Harrington. I hope that, with modern research tools, I may get closer. Along the way, we will meet interesting characters, awaken sleepy ghosts and acknowledge forgotten deeds.

If you have any corrections, anything to add or any other comments, please email or phone. All contributions welcome! I am also very happy to share the information I have.

Join us on this voyage; who knows where we will end up...
