Her father, mother and sister came from Prussia (Germany) on the same ship and at the same time as the Ottmer family. After they were married, Fritz and Mary lived on a 33 acre tract they purchased from Friedrich Muller for $666.00 in Oct 25, 1879. This tract is about 400 yards SW of the old Welcome School.

According to the 1880 Texas Census for Austin Co.(Page 402), he is shown as 30, married to Mary (24) who came from Lippe, Prussia, and with one child: Fritz 3.

The Ottmer family bought land there and he farmed; the land was next to the church because we have photos of Fritz at his home and the church is in the background. The church exists today.

Notes for M
ARY MARIE MULLER:
Mary (Marie as she was know by the family) is the daughter of Friedrich Wilhelm and Caroline (Hagmann) Muller; both parents are from Prussia. Another researcher has provided me with considerable information about her parents. Her father was listed as a farmer in the census records, but his obituary states that he was the butcher for Bellville.

There is some confusion about the spelling of her last name; however, everything I found had it spelled correctly as shown herein. Other researchers have it spelled Mueller, which is incorrect. My Grandmother Ottmer told me that Muller was correct when I once mispronounced the name; she made me spell it several times to be assured that I had it correct in my mind.

There is some confusion about exactly where Mary was born. On the 1880 census records, she says she was born in Lippe, Prussia (her father was born in Lippe) and other researchers show her born in Prussia. However, her parents were married in TX and her siblings were all born in TX. I would guess that since she spoke German, there was some confusion about what she was being asked during the census. The data really points to her being born in Industry, Austin Co., TX. In the 1900 Census, she states she was born in TX.

According to the 1870 Texas Census for Austin Co., she is shown as Mary Muller and single. She was reportedly living in Greenvine, Texas which was near Welcome, Texas.

Mary shows up in 1880 Texas Census as married to Fritz and as 24 years old. It shows she had one son, Fritz 3. Here she states that she and her parents were born in Lippe (Germany).

Mary again shows up in the 1910 Texas Census for Ben Arnold, Milam Co., TX as married to Fritz, having 6 children and two at home: Ben 16 and Edna 15.

Mary set aside land on their farm to bury her husband Fritz and other family members. She later transferred the land to the community of Ben Arnold for public use provided that the land was kept up.

During summers, Ben Henry's children would stay with Mary to help her with the household. Both Ernest and Bennye Marie can recall being there and helping her.

Mary died in 1941 and was buried beside her husband Fritz in the Ben Arnold Cemetery.
