Notes for WALTER LEROY HILL: Walter’s obituary from an Illinois newspaper: Walter Leroy Hill was born July 4, 1908 in Dekalb County, Illinois, to Minnie and Joseph Hill. Joseph died when Walter was a year and a half old. Walter died in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on May 23, 1993. He left the community at 18 after having farmed with other family members and the lived for a time in Chicago. There he finished his education and formed lifelong friendships while attending Northwestern University. In his business career Walter was associated with Proctor and Gamble for 33 years, chiefly in New Jersey and New York. He had a serious interest in lapidary arts and silver work. Friends and relatives have enjoyed gifts of his handmade jewelry. He leaves his wife of 26 years, Wilma of Albuquerque; and from an earlier marriage, a daughter, Nancy Brand of Dallas, Texas, and a son, David of North Salem, New York. Also surviving are a grandson, Barry Brand and a great-granddaughter, Lindsey, both of McKinney, Texas, a granddaughter Jenny Brand of Dallas, as well as much loved sister, Lillian Brett of Rockford, Illinois, and a brother, Austin of Sarasota, Florida. He was preceded in death by sister Rosalyn Carlson-Krebs in 1978. Walter’s memory will always be warm in our hearts. |
