OTT - please view the reports below for names!
This branch of the Ott family was born in the valley of the River Lahn in the little village of Neidergleen which is near the eastern boundry of the Rhine Provinces of Prussia in the District of Koblentz, Germany. The Ott family set out for Belgien Antwerp. From Antwerp, they sailed on a two-mast vessel named "Odensia" and immigrated to America. The Ott family arrived in New York on July 7, 1850.

By correspondence, previous plans had been made to join the John Naugle family who had preceded the Ott family to America. The Naugle family had settled in Somerset County, Pennsylvania. The Otts left New York immediately for Pennsylvania. The journey to Pennsylvania included travel over the Pennsylvania Canal from Columbia in Lancaster County to Hollidaysburg in Blair County, then by the Portage Railroad to Johnstown. From Johnstown, the Ott family drove overland to the Naugle home in Somerset County, Pennsylvania.

ARMAGOST - please view the reports below for names!

To date, the family name has been found to have been spelled many different ways, i.e. German, anglicized, phonetically and, I strongly feel, just plain misspelled. We have:

Arbegast Arbagast Armergast
Arbegost Arbagost Erbegast
Armegast Arbogast Armaegast
Armacost Armagost

It is believed that the Armagost family migrated from Alsace Lorraine, Germany. However, as the name has not been found on the ship's passenger list as of now, the date of his immigration is at issue.
