| We have researched the Ouimette name back to Nicolas Ouimet of Vrigny, Reims, Champagne (Marne) France. Nicolas was born in 1608 and married Perette Nicaysse who was born in 1612 in France. His son was Jean Ouimet who debarked at Quebec, Canada on June 16, 1659. Presently seeking information on the parents of Nicolas. Apparently the Ouimet surname is a Canadien invention and the original surname may be Houymet or Wuillemet. Also seeking information on the Arnold surname. Charles Arnold married to Marie Louise Meunier in early 1800's. We don't know the nationality of this particular Arnold. It could be English, Irish, Scottish or perhaps German. Although his children Jacob, Charles and Marie married in Drummondville, Canada, we have been unable to find any records on him or his wife in Canada. His son Jacob married Ursule Belanger on 10/25/1842. His son Jacob married Louise Gagnon on 9/5/1870. His son Joseph married Obeline Dion on 2/27/1892.
