We are just starting to research the OVASKA family from Marengo, Wisconsin and CAYA family name originating in Illinois. I recently found a link for the Ovaska (Kyronlahti) ancestors in Finland and will be posting that information as soon as I get it all sorted out.
I am stuck on the Caya side of the family. My father, A. Peter Caya (Ambrose, Red, Pete), born 15 April 1908, died 1 December 1985,was the son of Elizabeth Birno Caya, born 11 September 1884, died May 1976 and ??William Joseph Caya. There is little information on William. It is told that he died when my dad was young. He was a horse trainer/trader and probably lived in Libertyville, Illinois area. My Grandmother said that he was a mean man and was not willing to talk about him. I do not know where he was born or where he died. William's father's name was Moses Caya. I cannot find any info on William or Moses. I believe that they originated in Canada.
I would appreciate any help...and of course...I will give you any help that I can!
