On this page I have attempted to put a little bit of my past and some other information that I have come across, with the help of some new and some old dear friends. I hope that it helps others in their search.
I have tried to put together some Wise County Virginia information to assist others in their research. My Father, Franklkin Delano Grimes was born and raised in Wise County and my Grandmother Annie Belle Maggard Grimes has told me many stories about the people of Wise County. I hope to recount some of them here on my site.
On my husband's side of the family tree: I am researching the following surnames:
Overbey, Ward, Bruner, Bachman
On my father's side I am researching the following surnames:
Grimes, Maggard, Creech, Addington and Harper to name just a few of the names.
Legend has it in our family, that my gggggrandfather was John Belle, but had taken the name of Grimes. We couldn't find proof of this,although we did find some interesting lines that seem to point that way.
