1. MALACHI2 BROGDON (JOHN1) was born 1784 in ,Bertie, North Carolina, USA, and died November 23, 1859 in ,,South Carolina, USA. He married MARY ANN BAGNAL TOBIAS Abt. 1805, daughter of THOMAS TOBIAS and MARY BAGNAL. She was born January 07, 1788, and died January 21, 1849 in ,,South Carolina, USA.

Malachi came to SC circa 1790 with his twin brother and his father from Bertie County, NC which is near the Va. line;

Settled between Manning and Kingstree "Junky Yard" a railroad term; Oak Grove Section; lived near Foreston until children were grown.

Note from Mary Amanda (Polly) Jones born 1845; daughter of John Bagnal Brogdon, remembered her Grandfather, Malachi. She said she was l4 when he died; he had a twin brother Moses; his family came to Va. from Ireland (Scotch)

Note from James Malachi Brogdon, son of Moses Brogdon; Twin brothers came from Scotland; one settled in N. C. and the other in S. C. (does this refer to Malachi or to his father?

1811 -Land transfer from Robert Tobias; 970 acres

1814-1815 Served in the War of l812, Pvt. 2nd Regiment of S. C.

1816 Release of land to Malachi Brogdon from Gerutha Dunn, wife of John Dunn

1818 Received land grant from Clarendon County

1859 Malachi buried Oak Grove Cemetery, between Kingstree and Manning; have not located graves for Malachi and Mary (1999).

Buried at Wilson's Mill? crepe myrtle in front of house; two iron rods in garden (graves)

At the time of his death, records indicate that he had 22 grandchildren born
