Hines family Bible in possession of the Roberts family, in possession of Luticia Lee of Sanf o rd, FL is the source for names and vital dates of this famiy.

Submitted by Mrs. Martha Roberts is the following:
"Willis Hines born 6 June 1769 died 18 May 1835 married Sarah (Sally) Caraway.
He lived in Wayne Cty, NC, at his death at age 66 he owned a large plantation of 700 acres , i ncluding the home, the mill together with dam priviledges. He died intestate and his wid ow a nd children asked the court to appoint a commission to call for an accounting of all th e slav es and other advancements given his family in total estimated to be #13,825 and othe r advance s of $1393.52. The widow Sally (Sarah) petitioned for one year's support. Willi s and Sall y Hines had 12 children. They were Frederick, Jessie, Annie, Bryan, Mary, Charles , Lovit, Su san, Willis, James M., John and Sarah Jane.

Annie was married to John Roberts, Susan was married to William Gully.

Sally at her father's death, had a guardian, John B. (Broad) Hust. In 1835 Bryan, Charli e A . and Lovit Hines were all living in Greene Cty, AL. they were all represented by thei r brot her, Willis Hines, listed as their attorney. The estate sale included many differen t househo ld goods. The total amounted to $2095.98. This included the hire of the slaves . The slave s were divided among the heirs with each receiving value totaling $1268.21. The re were six n otes overdue. James M. Hines was administrator of the estate. Willis Hines an d Sarah (Sally ) Carraway Hines are buried on the James Price farm north of 111 on S.R. 1752 . Willis Hine s tombstone was removed by James Price and carried to his home. Sarah Carrawa y Hines tombsto ne was broken and it is lost.
