In the little book "Our Daily Bread" there is a page on "What is a Friend?" It starts out...."Socrates once asked a simple old man what he was most thankful for. The man replied, "That being such as I am, I have had the friends I have had."
This year has been one of many ups and downs and I was blessed with three such friends....Captain Bill Brogdon, his wife Joyce and her sister Monica Richardson. I was invited to their home in North Carolina. And I was treated like royality while there. I was able to walk where my Caraway ancesters lived and died. I was able to visit Emerald Isle and at one point look to my left and see the ocean and to the right see the bay (or the sound as the natives call it). And this was a real treat as Odessa, Texas doesn't have much in the way of water.
I got to ride on a ferry and Bill and Joyce took me out on the bay in his boat. I fell in love with North Carolina. Bill had introduced me to Joyce's sister Monica via the internet because we shared the same illness - Multiple Sclerosis. Before meeting her face to face we became the best of friends.
NO LONGER DO I CALL YOU SERVANTS...BUT I HAVE CALLED YOU FRIENDS. JOHN 15:15 This verse says it all about Bill, Joyce and Monica.
I would also like to thank those people who have made this site possible, in particular Shirley Runnels from Fredericksburg, Texas; Willie King from Mississippi; Sharon Weldon who is the county coordinator for Mills Cty, Texas; Virginia Amorde of California; Elaine Horton of Wyoming. In the notes section I give credit to all those who have shared information with me. If for some reason you have shared and your name doesn't appear let me know so that I may correct it. Believe me, I appreciate all the help I get and I want to give credit where credit is due.
I am not above making mistakes so I ask that you please send documentation for those corrections. Anyone that is unable to research or do not know how to research, or do not have the time to research, I can help. I make sure all research is backed with documentation. Write or email me for details.
Thank you.
