Russell and I have been conducting research on our families for about 12 years. It has led us down many interesting paths, and we have learned about many of our ancestors.

Russell Owens' surnames are: Owens, Richards, Epps, Pope, Hudgins, Williams, Parks, Franklin, Gross, Hinton, Sisson, Wiley, and McClain. Russell is a member of the Sons of the American Revolution on the record of Captain Henry Pope of North Carolina.

Betty Terrell Owens' surnames are: Terrell, Cotten, Grier, Powell, Nowlin, Frasure, Hill, Augier, Mullins, Cox, Bird, Hicks, Gray, Duvall, McAdams, Ramey, Jeffers, Marshall, Tatum, Vardeman, Walker, Pilcher, Carter, Hurt, Organ, Howell, Spain, Jeffreys, Epps, Tyler, Herring, Stewart, Perkins. etc.

Betty Terrell Owens is a member of The Daughters of the American Revolution on the records of: Solomon Terrell of North Carolina; Jeptha Terrell of North Carolina; Moses Grier of Alabama; Thomas Stewart of Alabama; Peter Tatum of North Carolina; Sylvanus Walker of Georgia; Matthew Organ of North Carolina; Benjamin Duvall 3rd of Maryland; Bryan Ward Nowlin of Virginia; Edward Wade of Virginia; and John Howell of North Carolina. Other papers are in the process of being prepared for submission.

Some of Betty Terrell Owens' Colonial Ancestors who came to America before 1701 include Mareen Duvall, Nathanial Tatum and his wife, Ann, Francis Epes, Benjamin Brasseur, William Hurt,Sr., John McCubbin, Elinor Carroll McCubbin, Robert Tyler, Joane Raven Reid Tyler, William Ijams, Richard Cheyney, Thomas Spain, Thomas Littleberry, Peter Petersson, John Vardeman, William Terrell and Susannah Waters Terrell.

Betty Terrell Owens had three proven families of Ancestors who lived in Texas while it was a Republic. They are: John Ira Ellis Cotten and his wife, Abigale Herring Cotten; James W. Powell and his wife,Elizabeth, and Jim (?)and Permelia Smith. Elizabeth Hill is said to have lived in Texas before 1846. She has honored these ancestors by being a member of The Daughters of the Republic of Texas, on their records.

We are particularly interested in the OWENS Family who moved to Texas from MS ca 1900; the MARSHALL family ca 1800 Brooke Co. WV, the FRASURES in 1850 MO who moved to Texas, the TN CARTERS who moved to Texas ca 1850, all JEFFREYS ca 1800 in Franklin Co. NC.
