2. JOHN J.² OWENS (ELIJAH¹)¹ was born Abt. 1791 in S.C.¹, and died 12 Oct 1836¹. He married LUCINDA LONG¹ 9 Jun 1813 in Milledgeville, Baldwin Co. Ga ², daughter of EVANS LONG and LUCY APPERSON.

Notes for JOHN J. OWENS:

1. John J. Owens had 8 tracts of Indian Land of Russell Co. Al. transferred
to him in 1835.

2. Information regarding children of this family come from the Bible of
John J. and Lucinda in the possession of Mrs. N. N. Stringfellow, a
granddaughter of Charles Augustus Owens, Headland, Alabama. I obtained
a copy at the Dallas, Tx Library 6-3-97. I have xerox of the pages from
the book.

3. Columbia Enquirer death notice 12 oct 1836:975.8473.W
"Captain John J. (age 45) born S. C. was a soldier in the war of 1812;
served with Col Newman in East Fl. ; Vet Indian War in Al;
leaves a wife and 7 surviving children."
