ELLISWORTH OWENS
Linsey Ellisworth Owens was born in January 1867 in Georgia, His parents were Wadge Owens and Senath Chase Owens.He had nine or ten sisters and brothers; George, John, Sally, Eula, Dean, Edward, Jim, Spelman, and Minnie.It is believed that the family was of Irish descent and that they came to Arkansas from the state of Georgia and settled in Elizabeth Arkansas, Fulton county.It has been said that they first came to Arkansas in 1871 or 1872, but others say that Ellisworth was sixteen years of age when he came to the state.
Ellisworth attended high school but it is unknown where.He farmed and made shingles for a living.
Ellisworth married Sarah Elizabeth Gray in Newburg Township near Chaple Hill, date unknown.She was born on October 5, 1869 at Newburg Township, Arkansas to George Washington Gary and Cassie Stroud Gray.She was called Betty by most everyone.Betty was sick with tuberculosis for two Vears and died on October 30, 1909.They had six children,, Herbert, Rupert, Edith, Clement, Ray, and Grace.
In 1925 he remarried a Martha Miller.They had one childo Roland L. E. Owens.
On February- 23., 1926, Ellisworth died of Pneumonia and is buried at the Owens Cemetary near Brockwell, Arkansas.
