| The former Sand Beach Church closed in 1998, and is now | ||||||||
| owned by the Mennonites. This Church , although called the | ||||||||
| Owasco Outlet Church is actually in the TOWN OF FLEMING. It is | ||||||||
| from this church that I abstracted the records. | ||||||||
| When the old Log meeting House called The Owasco Dutch | ||||||||
| Reformed Church could no longer hold the swelling membership, | ||||||||
| (some from the West Side of Owasco Lake)the congregation , by | ||||||||
| mutual consent, split. This old Meeting House was in the Town | ||||||||
| of Owasco,on what is now called Burtis Point(formerly Brinkerhoff) | ||||||||
| Point. It stood on a bluff next to Dutch Hollow Brook overlooking | ||||||||
| Owasco Lake. | ||||||||
| Those on the East Side went up into the Village of Owasco | ||||||||
| and built the present Owasco Reformed Church. This churches | ||||||||
| baptismal records come from the old log meeting house beginning in | ||||||||
| 1799 - 1837 This record, and other historical parchment documents | ||||||||
| can be purchased from the Cayuga County Historians Office- 157 Genesee | ||||||||
| St Auburn N.Y. 13021- for $6.00 Please also include $3 for postage. | ||||||||
| The packet contains the story of the " Early Settlement of | ||||||||
| Cayuga County" by these pioneers and their early life near the lake | ||||||||
| and is a must for anyone researching their family in the Owasco/Fleming | ||||||||
| area. | ||||||||
