We are researching a branch of the OWEN families which generates from George P. Owen, born 1808 in Tennessee, residing in McMinn County, TN; in Texas and in Tulare and Fresno Counties, California. We are attempting to find the parents of George P. Owen. Tradition tells us his people were in Virginia or the Carolinas, or Kentucky. This comes from several branches and sources.
The ROUNTREE family generates essentially from Thomas Hart Rountree born in South Carolina in 1808. He was an early settler in Lincoln County, Tennessee. He gave land on which Lynchburg, TN was built. His known descendants reside in parts of Texas, Alabama and California, particularly Tulare County, CA. We have traced his ancestry back to William Rountree in Goochland, VA in Colonial times.
