The Dewey Owens Family performs research on all ancestors of this Owens generation. The family lives on a small acreage with farm animals, dogs, and cats. Our humble home is the center of our life, though we spend a lot of time working to support our hobbies. We also spend a lot of time working to make our surrounding natural habitat meet our desires. Direct blood family names we are researching include, but are not limited to: Owen(s), Walker, Bowles, Collins, Hogesed (Hoxit), Warren, Kimzey, Archer, Parker, Wood, Price, Dennington, Johnson, Nickens, Dawson, McNabb, Shoecraft, Brown, Stokes, Fortenberry, Perkins, and Right. The family research leads primarily from Virginia to North Carolina, Sourht Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, and Texas to Oklahoma (where I was born). As with all family history, there is reportedly Native American ties, though none are confirmed as of yet. There is US Census reports indicating some were either black or mulatto. A few researched lines have applied for, but were declined, membership in certain tribes. Several members are confirmed as being in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, and other world or national conflicts. My research thus far has taken me to the mid 1700's on each line at a minimum. One line has taken me to now Germany in 1625. Members left NC ca 1800 to either Kentucky, Georgia or Tennessee. Movement from those areas were 1830 (from KY to MS), and mid 1880's (from GA to AL or TX). Movement from MS to TX (1885 era), AL to AR (1880 era), MS to TX (1885 era). Movement to Indian Territory was ca 1890 from TX and TN. AR left for Indian Territory ca 1900 era. I have five children, one at home. I would like to share research efforts with people. I spend some time on the road so sometimes my E-mail goes a few days before I can answer it. I do answer it though.
