My research centers around my Grandparents and their ancestors and decendants:
1. Paternal grandparents: Willam S. Owen, born in Old Colwyn, Wales 1899. My grandmother, Margaret S. Byrne, born in Dublin, Ireland in 1899. My grandparents married in 1923 in Wales, and then emmigrated to Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and then shortly thereafter moved to Utica, NY. Eventually they moved and lived in Syracuse, NY. I have had good success with my research on the Owen's from Old Colwyn, Wales. Conversely, I have had very limited success on the Byrne side from Dublin and County Wicklow, Ireland.
2. Maternal Grandparents: Gerald V. Sullivan, born in Binghamton, NY in 1901. In 1926, he married Teresa Connelly, born in 1899 in Binghamton, NY. The Sullivan family has its roots in Sullivan County, PA (coincidently). Also on the Sullivan side are the Bahl's, also from Sullivan County. Tracing the family back shows they came from the Alsace region of France. Most of this fine research was done by others, including Marion Sullivan, currently from Austin, TX. My grandfather Sullivan use to say he did alot of family research but I have not been able to get it from other family members, even though he died in 1990. I am still trying as I expect he did some great research.
I hope this helps others and I hope you can help me!
Regards,
Joe Owen
