Kimberly McCauley - Owens

Updated December 2, 2000

I was able to get quite a bit of information from my grandmother about ten years ago after my grandfather died about her side of the family (on my mother's side). It all goes as far back as the 1600's. It's very scetchy information about the Satterwhite's Basden's, and Bryant's. She and her cousin from New Mexico or Arizona (don't remember which) were going to Arkinsas to get more information to finish the project. When my grandmother got back she passed down her information and gave me a copy of what she had. She told me her cousin was going to put the information into a book form and send her a copy. When she got this book she would send me a copy. Well, I took over a bunch of pictures I had pulled out of a trunk of my great-grandmothers to my grandmothers a couple of years ago and she told me the samething then about the genealogy stuff from her cousin. We went through the pictures and she told me who everyone was and where they fell into the line. It was real intresting to find out that some of the pictures were of some of her boyfriends. Needless to say I still have them. I just wish I had put the names on the backs of these pictures cause most of them I don't remember. My great-grandmother had also made copies of some of the letters she wrote to her uncle and a few others in the family. And I have all those copies that I know exist. Plus a bible from a church somewhere (listed on the bible but don't recall right off from where)but its from the south. My great - grandfather is listed in this bible as a church elder I think. He was also in the masonry. I also have some old newspaper's from either Tigue or Van Texas. They are so old I don't handle them much for fear of them falling apart. That is all the information I will be able to get from my grandmother on my mother's side because she passed away last March after heart surgery. Unfortunately, as far as I know, she never got that book. If she did she never got around to making a copy of it for me. We get together with this side of the family every Thanksgiving and Christmas.
I'm now trying to find out my father's side of the family tree, the McCauley's. I have almost nothing to go on there except what my father has told me. That side of the family and I don't talk much. I talked to them twice in the last twenty years. And that was during two funirals. My grandfathers fifteen years ago and my grandmothers last september. All I know about that side is that my father's, father was the first generation born in the United States. My grandfather's father came over from Irland when he was 19 and they were all farmers from him down to my father. My grandmother was the first born in the United states on her side too. I don't know when her parents came over to the united states from Norway. I also know she spoke the Norwisian language as well as English. She was a nurse by trade. My grandparents had a daughter before my father who died at birth. Then my father came and two brother's after him.
We had one family reunion on that side that I know about but I didn't attend. I was working at the time.
