The family names that I am researching are:Owen - SC, GA, AL (originally from Wales) Cheatwood - Descendants of Matthias Cheatwood(Chitwood)I am researching the Owen and Cheatwood heritage. My direct ancestor's on the Owen and Cheatwood side lived in and around Cleburne County, AL (Edwardsville, Heflin). My Granddaddy was James Elbert Owen and Grandmother was Martha Ann Cheatwood Owen. Their children were: Ernest(Zeke) Thaddeous Owen James(Ed) Edward Owen Borden(Wop) Sidney Owen Mary Leann Owen Burgess Dorthoy(Dot) Pearl Owen Steed. My Dad is Borden but everyone, since he was a boy, has called him Wop. I am especially interested in learning about Charity Jane Owen(born a. 1836, Benton Cty. AL) who's parents were Bartlett (Owen(b. a. 1814 Spartenburg, S. C.)/Charlotte Watkins(b. a. 1817 Franklin Cty, GA) . Bartlett/Charlotte were James Elbert Owen's grandmother. James Elbert's dad was John Thaddeus Owen(b. 1858, Benton Cty. AL), Charity Jane's son. Apparantly Charity Jane never married (hence her name is still Owen). I would love to find the father of John Thaddeus and I believe she had another son Tom.
