LEAVES ON AND UNDER THE GUM TREE
LEAVES ON AND UNDER THE GUM TREEUpdated November 16, 2005 | |
Julia Gum Ozie | I started this research in 1991, unfortunately, I didn't know what I was doing and did not record all the sources.I still don't know what I'm doing but I do know it's been a lot of fun and I've met a lot of "interesting" characters on the family tree, some on and some under. My reseach would not have been as interesting or as complete without the help of Muriel Hoffman, the author of "Leaves from the Gum Tree."A "must have" for all "Gum Researchers." Included in my research, has been the "hunt" for an Indian that my grandmother, Julia Howell Gum, referred to doing her lifetime. As with most kids, I just caught the interesting stories but not names, dates and locations of these family members.I found several Indians, but no documentation.I did manage to eventually acquire enough documentation to apply for and receive membership with the WV Appalachian American Indians. Travel through time from the mid 1700's to the present with me, I'm sure there are a lot of mistakes due to a lot of speculation on dates, times and locations on my part.I apolize for any incorrect information and would appreciate being notified of any additional information that would help me to correct it.Have fun, that's what it's all about.....J |
