She married Jacob Lee NELSON on July 21, 1887 in Circleville, Pendleton Co., WV362, son of Elijah Stewart NELSON and Sidney Dean PORTER.

Includes NotesNotes for Genetty Catherine THOMPSON:
The original NELSON-THOMPSON family Bible, with entries for births, marriages and deaths (in the family history section) in my Grandmother's and Mother's own handwritting, is in the possession of Dwight W. Ozment, Grandson. My mother came into possession of this Bible upon the death of her mother and was given to her by her father before his death in 1953. In this record my Grandmother spelled her own first name as "Genetty".

A second NELSON-THOMPSON family Bible apparently belonging to "Mrs. G.C. Nelson", and containing the families histories (births, marriages, deaths), was in the possession of Clarice M. Nelson Degler after the death of Jacob Lee Nelson, Dwight's Grandfather. This family Bible had the family history written in the Bible by "M.M. Whetsell on July 18, 1945 at Falls (WV)" according to Fern Degler Hare, grand daughter of Genetty and Jacob Nelson, and Dwight's cousin. Fern, who lives in Morgantown, WV, has this Bible and records in her possession (as of April 1995).

Her given first name is spelled at least four different ways. The original NELSON-THOMPSON Family Bible birth and Marriage Certificate records spelled her first name as "Genetty". It was noted that her mother's obituary (Mrs. M.C. Thompson, died 1922) listed her daughter as "Genetta". The name is spelled "Jeanettie"on the headstone at Lehmansville Cemetary. I have chosen to use the original Nelson-Thompson Bible spelling"Genetty" for these genealogical records.

Genetty and Jacob are buried in the Lehmansville Cemetary, Inc. behind the old chapel, on the S. W. corner of the second semi-circle drive (next to a tall headstone with name Sherman). The cemetary faces East toward a beautiful range of hills described as " a woman lying on her back", or "The mounds".

Glenn Huffman, in his research of the Nelson family, lists another son named Glen A. NELSON, born 1894 to Jacob and Genetty Nelson. However, I can find no other varification of this in any of the Nelson-Thompson-Ozment records.
