Know all men that I David Jones of the County of Haywood and State of Tennessee, do this 4th day of November one thousand eight hundred and forty, being sound in mind, impressed with the uncertainty of all human affairs and also with the uncertainty of life, and the certainty of death, have and do on this the day and date above written constitute appoint and make this my last will and testament in the words following, to wit;
1st I direct that my funeral expences and all my debts be paid as soon as possible after my death out of any money that I may die seized and possessed of, or may first come into the hands of my executors.
2nd I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Patience Jones all of my following property consisting of horses, cattle, hogs and sheep, also my house hold and kitchen furniture, to have and to hold as hers, during the time of her natural life, and at her death I give and bequeath the above named property each and all of it to my son Willis Jones and to his heirs forever.
3rd I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Patience Jones all of my money notes and accounts which I may die seized and possessed of, during her life and at her death, all of the money, notes and accounts which she may have on hand, I direct to be divided equally among all my children.
4th I nominate and appoint Willis Jones and Edward R. Jones (my sons) as my executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, thil the day and date above written.
