I am searching for relatives with the surname Padro, who originally came from Catalunia, Spain, and settled in several towns of Puerto Rico in 1848. Some of the towns where they settled were: Morovis, Ciales, Manati, Utuado, Florida,
Barceloneta, Cabo Rojo, and San Juan. The surname Padro is always spelled with an accent over the o. It is a topographic or place name, and there is a town in Spain by this name. It is derived originally from 'pedrp', which means a 'memorial stone'. It is also a nickname, and also means 'master'. There have been some well-know historical figures that have borne this name. I would be interested in exchaning information and / or documentation about my relatives from anyone who may be searching the same surname.
