Page and Whitcomb Family Genealogy

Updated March 16, 2007

Welcome!

This is a website that gives genealogical information for my family. I set it up using a software program called Family Tree Maker. The program is what I have been using for several years to help me gather and organize genealogical information about my family. I have been researching both sides of my family, and information for both sides appears together on this site.

On my mom's side of the family, some of the names that appear most often are: WHITCOMB, GRANDON, BRAND and FLEMING.

On my dad's side of the family, some of the names that appear most often are: PAGE, MORRIS, CRAMER, and BAIL.

THIS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS, and I am more than happy to correspond via email or regular mail with anyone who has updates, corrections or comments about the information provided here. You will find my contact information on the left side of this page, toward the bottom.

Although I work regularly on this project using the software on my home computer, updating this site with new information is a different process and can take quite a while. So please be patient if you don't see your suggestion or correction appear right away.

I'm providing this site mostly so all members of my family can learn more about their heritage, and also to help fellow researchers in their endeavors.

I hope you enjoy your time here!

~Megan

NOTES ON PHOTOGRAPHS...

- I have included as many photographs as I can on this website. I think it's fun to put a face to a name. You can see who has a photo by looking for the little icon of a photograph next to their name in the Index of Individuals below. Also below in the Family Photos section are photos of groups of people or of places or things I thought would be of interest.

- I chose not to put PHOTOS OF LIVING INDIVIDUALS on this site for two reasons. First is to protect people's privacy. Second is that a lot of the photos I have are from the 1970's and 80's, and so don't properly represent who the person is today. Please let me know if you would like me to go ahead and show your picture anyway. You can send me one or if I already have one, I can use it. Just email me and let me know!

- I would LOVE to have MORE PHOTOS of anyone and everyone in the family, living or deceased, so if you want to send me any, please do!! I won't post them on this site without your permission, but I'd love to have them just to keep on my genealogy program on my home computer. I would also love any kind of documents that you would like me to include in my program, like high school diplomas, military papers, etc. Anything that you want digitally preserved and forever associated with your family info!

MISCELLANEOUS NOTES...

- STORIES and BIOGRAPHIES, whether just a few lines or several paragraphs, are also more than welcome. They add so much depth and interest and would be treasured additions to my family files.

- Anyone who would like a GENEALOGY REPORT on any part of the family can email me and I'd be happy to generate it and send it to you. My Family Tree Maker program can create all kinds of reports. Examples would be: "Descendants of Nathan Fleming" or "Kinship Report for ______" (That's an interesting report - it shows exactly how a person is related to everyone on this site.) Reports can include photos as well. For privacy reasons, info on living individuals will be privatized before I send the report, unless the individuals themselves are requesting the report.

- Lastly, researching genealogy using computers and the internet is fun and satisfying but can be very confusing and overwhelming as well. I'm still learning things all the time about using computers in general, about using my genealogy program, about doing the research, etc. If you have ANY QUESTIONS or are confused by this site or by researching, please feel free to email me and I'll be happy to help you as best I can. Remember, the only dumb question is the one you don't ask! :)

Family Photos

  • Brand Family Photo (347 KB)
Photo taken in early 1912 on the steps of the home of James and Mary Brand, in Monongalia County, West Virginia.
  • Morris, West Virginia House (1000 KB)
This is the home of George and Florence Mae Bail, where my grandma Jessie and her siblings were raised. It stayed in the family until the early 21st century, and is now owned by a friend of the family.
  • Home of Francis Norton Whitcomb, Belmont, N.Y. (277 KB)
This is an old postcard that has been in my family forever. Probably made circa 1900. Apparently this is where my great grandmother, Margaret Whitcomb, and her bother Philip were raised.
  • Grave Marker for Nathan Fleming, 1750 - 1825 (36 KB)
I found this picture of Nathan Fleming's memorial online. It's located in the Fleming Cemetery, in Marion County, West Virginia. He's one of my great-great-grandfathers on the Whitcomb side of my family.
  • Charles Whitcomb & Navy buddies (180 KB)
I'll post the details of my maternal grandfather's Naval service when I get more info. He's the 2nd from the right.
