In 1883 Gottlieb and Frederika Pagel traveled from Germany to Winona, Minnesota. Gottlieb and Frederika traveled with at least one daughter, Alice E Pagel. Gottlieb and Frederika had at least one daughter, Elsa Pagel, and two son's, William Edward and Heinrich in Winona, Minnesota after their arrival. William Edward was married in 1911 to Frances Aland. William and Frances had a child, William Robert in 1913. Frances became ill with Typhoid Fever and sadly died 15 days later. At the time of her death William Robert was 3 months old. William Edward was unable to care for such a young infant and apparently gave the infant to his sister, Alice, to raise. Two years later, William Edward married Anna C Hucke. Together they raised their children until 1935, when he died. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Jean. Anna died in 1983.

I am interested in any information about this Pagel family. Currently, I am trying to find two brothers of William Edward who lived in Washington State at the time of his death in 1935. I have been e-mailing people that I have seen on the internet that may have some clues.

Most recently, I read that a man named Robert G Pagel, might be the missing brother. The person that I contacted by e-mail has not responded.

It is extremely difficult to locate family because most are sadly deceased. Also, in our area the name is quite common. It is however pronouced differently. "PAGEL" and "POGEL"
We pronounce it PAGEL with a long "A".

Please e-mail me if you have any additional information, stories, or pictures. I would really appreciate it.

Thank You.
