Died in summer of 1849 having just made his last will and testament. Philander D.W. Conger was executor. He left property to his wife, Penniah, during her life or widowhood. After her death $50 was to be paid to each of his brothers and sistes being five in number $200 should be paid to the Baptist Union University at Murfreesboro, Tennessee and the balance divided between Home and Foreign Baptist Societies. Pereniah Betts died in February 1856 having first mae a will. A suit ws filed by PDW Conger et als vs Stokely, Belts, et als, 25 February 1859 (Ibid 280) 21February 1860 in the auit of PDW Conger, executor and others vs Lovel Belts & others, land was sold and title devested out of James B. conger, John J. Betts, Lemuel Bowes (Bevers), Evelina Bowers, Stockely Betts, Lovell Betts, Eliza Colthrap, Eliza Demumbrane, Issac W. Betts, William S. Betts, Leonidas Betts, Ann Williams, Franklin Betts, Harriet Miller, John Conger, Caroline Priestly, Stephen C. Parat (Pavatt), L. P. Wiley, Margaret Williams, Sarah Williams and Paratt Williams, John Nixen, H. E. Nixen, O. A. Nixon, Margaret Chappell, Mary Paratt and Rowena Paratt, Another listing is the sames except it included Evender Betts instead of Leonidas Betts (ibid 298).
