Find Family
Hi! I am researching three families: the Paquin, Brinen and Pratt of whom I am related. I'm also interested in any Germans who have researched the last name (von)Lauenstein as this is my son's heritage.
The Brinens came to Canada during the potato famine in the mid-1860's from Londonderry area. The parents died during the voyage and the three children were raised by different people upon reaching Canada.

My Pratt ancestor is a mystery. My mother's great, great, etc. grand father appeared in the Muskoka Lake area of Ontario, Canada with a young son in tow. All we know of him is that the natives called him flaming beard and that he had a fine english accent. This would have been in the mid-1800's as well.

The Paquins have been in Canada since 1671, and we believe that we are related to Nicolas Pasquin, a ship-wright sent over by the king of France to teach the skill of ship-building to the colonists. Either his wife or his daughter was the first school-teacher in New France(Canada) and that they settled in Quebec (We think the Trois-Riviere area).

If you have any information about these names, please let me know! Of course, any information that I have I will gladly share.

Thank you.
