Notes for Ralph Simeon Parker: Obituary: Ralph S. (Colonel) Parker was born to Mr. and Mrs S. S. Parker at Sibley, Ia., June 4 1883.He came to S.D. with his parents as a small boy and grew to manhood near Armour. He with his father,built the first two story house in the townsite Addition of Lake Andes. In 1904 he was married to Marie Vance of Platte. They were the first bride and Groom in the City of Lake Andes. To this union were born three sons,Lyle of Corpus Christi,Texas; Thorald of Weslco,Texas;and C.W. of Donna,Texas. He was for many years Marshall of the City of Lake Andes and a deputy U.S. Marshall for four years. During his 26 years in Lake Andes he followed the trade of Auctioneer. In 1930 he moved to Texas where he was widely as a livestock dealer and auctioneer. He owened and ran for a good many years two livestock auctions at Harlingen and Mercedes. During the last eight years he and his sons were co-owners of the Weslaco Trailer Court,Weslaco, Texas, where he passed away on Jan 18, after a lenghty illness. Funeral services were held on Monday,Jan 18 from the Weldon Martin Funeral Chapel, the Rev. H.D. Barlow, pastor of the Weslaco Baptist Church officiating. Burial was made in the Highland Memorial Park Cemertery. Surviiving,besides his widow and three sons, are six grandchildren.
