Strangers Kill Two,
Wound Two Others.
Missouri Brothers, Identified
As Grapevine Slayers, Killed
By Posse Monday.

Sought since early Thursday
Morning and positively identified
As the men who killed two and
Wounded two at a dance at
Fikestown, near Grapevine, early
That morning. Clarence and
Freddie Busch, youthful Missouri
Bandit brothers, were killed late
Monday in the woods near El paso,
White county, by members of a
Posse of citizens and officers.
The bandits, hard pressed for
Several days, late Monday afternoon
Opened fire on two members of the
Posse, who returned the fire with
Fatal results for the young brothers
Who had evaded officers and a posse
Since the Wednesday night shooting
Near Grapevine.

The dead men are Alva Appling, 45
And Newton Pierce, 60 and the wounded
Are Wallace Hudson, 50 proprietor of
the dance hall, and Homer Wright, 25.

When Hudson announced that the
Dance for the night was ended and
There would be another on next
Wednesday, two young men, who had
Driven up to the dance in a car and
Who had attracted no particular?
Attention, ordered Hudson to instruct
The orchestra to continue playing.
Hudson is said to have refused and
Before attendants realized what was
Happening, the youth produced an
Automatic and a sawed off shot
Gun and opened fire. Appling and
Hudson fell to the floor, the former
dieing and the dance hall operator
Seriously wounded.

The murderers without haste got
Into their car and drove away. A
short distance from the dance hall
The desperados met another car and
opened fire, wounding Wright while
His companion in the car escaped

A short while after the shooting the
Killers returned to the dance hall.
Not thinking that they would return,

The car, believing that someone had
driven up to give assistance. Instantly
The desperados opened fire, killing
Pierce.

The two youths are said to have been
seen in the vicinity of Grapevine several
Days before the tragedy. They are also
Reported to have bought gas at Willie
Flynn’s filling station near the "Y" the
Afternoon before the shooting.
