11. FRANKLIN² PIERCE (ISAAC NEWTON¹) was born August 30, 1874 in Grant County, AR., and died July 25, 1945 in grant County, AR.. He married ADA AGNES BLACKWELL September 23, 1897 in Grapevine,AR. Cleveland County, daughter of JOSEPH BLACKWELL and ELVIRA RUTLEDGE. She was born April 12, 1879 in Grapevine,AR. Cleveland County, and died May 25, 1923 in Warren, AR. Bradley County.

In 1916 Franklin was injured badly as he was returning from a logging job, riding one of the horses
through the woods, A large limb hung on the harness and was pulled down on him shattering his right
leg. It eventually healed but remained stiff and he could never walk again without crutches.
Being unable to work again he depended on the older boys to carry on the work around the place.
Eventually they moved to Warren, Arkansas in1923 to get better paying work for the boys.
In May of that year Ada developed the flu and died after A short illness.

Eva had already married Jesse Clement and they had A son Truman Clement, When Truman was
about 7 months old, Jesse died of pneumonia. In 1920 Eva married Edwin Pierce, son of Isaac Newton Pierce Jr. The other children were with Franklin and the twins who were seven years old at their mothers death, for A short while and soon started moving leaving him with the young children.

Franklin and the twins were from pillar to post from then on. Eugene married Aurelia Brown and they kept all of them at times but Franklin was gone most of the time. Eventually he sold the home place and
edvidently lived on the proceeds as long as it lasted,(land was cheap in those days) and it was soon
spent. Eugene kept both the twins for a while, Frankie was a good house keeper and stayed with them
until she got married except during the summer when school was out. Frank and Frankie spent the summer with her sister Eva and Edwin Pierce close to the old home place.

Frank went to school at Warren, Ar. through most of the eleventh grade. He spent some time with
Eva and Ed and eventually was out on his own. Eugene, Olin and Scott all were on their own and went their way after Ada died. Frankie finished High School in Warren,in 1934 and soon after graduation she was married to W.H. Werninger, a native of Bethany, Missouri who at that time was enrolled in the CCC
Camp 1703 near Hermitage, Arkansas.
