36. WILLIAM HARRISON⁸ SHERWOOD (ANN JULINA⁷ FERGUSON, JAMES⁶, WILLIAM⁵, DAVID⁴, ROBERT³, GEORGE², JAMES¹) was born 1842 in Medina, New York. He married ANN TRUESLER.

Notes for WILLIAM HARRISON SHERWOOD:
William was a farmer living in Iowa Falls Iowa in 1905. He was a veteran of the Civil War and served three years in the 8th Heavy Artillery of New York. He was taken prisoner in Cold Harbor and was confined most of the time at Salifbury, North Carolina.

39. ROBERT FERGUSON⁸ CUER (MARY ELIZABETH⁷ FERGUSON, ROBERT BELL⁶, WILLIAM⁵, DAVID⁴, ROBERT³, GEORGE², JAMES¹) He married MARY L. REED 12 September 1873 in Ohio. She was born in Kingsly, Ohio.

40. ELIZABETH⁸ FERGUSON (ALFRED BELL⁷, JOHN B.⁶, WILLIAM⁵, DAVID⁴, ROBERT³, GEORGE², JAMES¹) was born 1842 in Washington , DC, and died 10 January 1881 in Washington, DC ²⁷. She married DANIEL MILSTEAD 18 September 1856 in Washington, DC ²⁸, son of JUDSON MILSTEAD and CATHERINE ROBINSON. He was born 1835 in Washington, DC ²⁹.

Records from Congressional Cemetery, Washington, DC. Elizabeth was orginally interred on January 12, 1881. Daniel had her moved. She is buried next to her son Emmett.

MILSTEAD. January 10, 1881, at 6:10 p.m., Elizabeth F. beloved wife of L.D. Milstead, in the forty-first year of he age.

Funeral on Wednesday, January 12th, at 2 p.m. from her late residence, No 1103 New Jersey Avenue, southeast. Relatives and friends invited to attend.

Notes for DANIEL MILSTEAD:
Daniel is listed in the 1850 Census as L. D. Milstead. He is 15 years old and living with Robert age 23. I am positive that Robert is Daniels brother. .

Daniel and Elizabeth were found in the 1860 Census for Washington, DC. James was 11 months old. They were all born in Washington DC. Daniel has real estate worth $1500 and $150 in assets. I presume this house was Daniels

They were living in the same house as these people. William H. Martin, age 24, brickmaker, born in Maryland. Mary age 22, Born in Virginia, William H. age 2. Born in DC and Robert 1 month old born in DC. Daniel and Wiliam were both brickmakers.

I find in the DC directory for 1858 Robert Milstead, listed as a Brickmaker. He lived at 1st E near M South. There were no Milsteads listed in the 1855 DC Directory. In the 1860 Directory Robert is not listed. Daniel is listed as a Brickmaker and he lives at 744 NJ Ave.

I found Daniel in the 1880 Census for Washington, DC. He is listed as L. D. Milstead and is a grocer. Daniel worked as a brickmaker for many years. .

Leven Daniel is listed as a brickmaker in the 1890 DC Directory. He lives at 1134 C St. NE, Washington DC.

In the Congressional Cemetery records there are 3 children for Danial buried there. They were interred on December 29, 1873, November 11, 1865, and January 1876. I have never found any records for Edwin and George.

Notes for EMMETT MILSTEAD:
I first found Emmett in the 1889 DC Directory. He would have been 19 years of age. He is listed at 1114 NJ Ave., SE. He is also listed in the 1891 Directory at the same address. In the 1893 DC Directory he has moved to 623 Maryland Ave., SW. In the 1894 he is at the same address. He is not listed in 1898. The brickmaker business seems to be handed down in the family . In 1858 I have Robert as a brickmaker. I am not sure at this time how Robert fits in.

Emmett is buried at Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC. He is buried next to his mother. He was interred May 14, 1943. 6/209/

41. ROBERT BENEDICT⁸ FERGUSON (JOHN WESLEY⁷, JOHN B.⁶, WILLIAM⁵, DAVID⁴, ROBERT³, GEORGE², JAMES¹) was born 1838 in Washington, DC ³⁴. He married (1) VIRGINIA FAULKNER. He married (2) ALICE LIGHTNER.

Robert Benedict Ferguson Was born in Washington, DC where he was educated. He became a druggist on Capitol Hill, Washington, DC, near where the Congressional Library now stands. He married Virginia Faulkner, a distant relative on his mothers side.
