2. ROBERT² PARKER (ROBERT¹) was born Abt. 1740 in Honiton, Devon County, England. He married JOAN KNIGHT 19 July 1762 in St Michaels, Honiton, Devon County, England, daughter of JAMES KNIGHT and SUSANNA REED. She was born 1746.

Notes for ROBERT PARKER:
Robert and Joan lived in Honiton at least from the time they were married in 1762 and possibly longer. Honiton is an ancient borough and market town. It is situated on the southeastern side of the Otter River, in Devon County, England. It is known for the manufacture of lace and pottery. The town consists mainly of one street, nearly one mile in length. That is High Street. In 1850 Honiton had a pottery of brown earthenware, a tannery, a brewery, and iron foundry, three corn mills, several maltkilns, and a branch of The National Provincial Bank of England. Most of the family was involved in inn keeping, including the Bowermans, Symons, and the Newtons.

Notes for JOAN KNIGHT:
Joans parents have two children listed as Mary in the IGI. Since they were the only Knights in Honiton that could be the parents of Joan, I believe one of the Mary's is a mistake and is Joan.
